General Overview
The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA; www.wfuna.org) is a global nonprofit organization working for a stronger and more effective United Nations. Established in 1946, we represent and coordinate a membership of over 100 United Nations Associations and their thousands of members. We have offices at the United Nations in both New York and Geneva, and host interns in both locations. Our programs focus on such issues as the responsibility to protect, climate change, human rights, and nuclear disarmament.

Position Description– Membership and Aministration Intern (MAR)
The MAR Intern will assist with the organization’s membership and human resources activities.

Responsibilities include:
Compile information on UNA members Organize and maintain existing files on WFUNA’s membership Create and maintain a membership database with WFUNA’s key stakeholders including UN missions and agencies, and other NGOs Organize conference space for WFUNA meetings Organize study tours/briefings for visiting UNA members Provide organizational and programmatic assistance to staff members Perform general office tasks as necessary Other tasks as required Some of the opportunities:
The MAR intern will have the opportunity to learn about key UN issues and the role of civil society in these issues. The WFUNA Secretariat is located at UN Headquarters in New York. The MAR Intern will have access to the United Nations building, conferences and events and resources such as the UN Library. This position offers an excellent networking opportunity to make contact with UN staff, diplomats, UNA members, academics, and NGOs, and meet other interns working at the UN. Additional requirements:
Applicant must be self-motivated, energetic, be vigilant about staying on tasks and meeting deadlines. Strong writing, excellent communications, and solid organizational skills are necessary. Preference will be given to candidates who possess prior experience in office management and nonprofit work, coupled with an interest in international affairs. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of a foreign language is a plus
