Background The UNOPS North America Office (NAO) discharges three main areas of responsibility; it provides support to the Executive Office in its interaction with the Executive Board and other governing bodies; liaison and representation on behalf of UNOPS with member states, the UN community in New York and the World Bank in Washington; oversight of business development and the NAO business platforms responsible for service delivery. Duties and Responsibilities
The Coordination and Liaison Officer supports the Executive Office and the Regional Directorate in the fulfillment of their corporate and representational roles, and in the coordination of management-related and business development activities of NAO. (S)he will have strong organizational and communication skills and will have a proven ability to work and act under pressure and with discretion in a politically sensitive and challenging environment. Under the overall guidance of and reporting to the NAO Regional Director and Deputy Regional Director, (s)he will be tasked to: Governing body liaison and external relations Provide substantive and administrative support to the UNOPS Executive Office, NAO Regional Director and other UNOPS staff in relation to Executive Board meetings and meetings of other governing bodies to whom UNOPS is called to report, including preparing documentation, managing appointments, attending meetings, writing minutes, liaising with member states. Participate in key partnership building meetings and /or other as requested by the Regional Director.
Internal coordination Coordinate activities for the office, including the annual and quarterly work plans and initiatives of NAO on behalf of the Regional Directorate, set monthly operational priorities, and ensure their follow-up and regular feedback. (S)he is specifically tasked with ensuring timely and quality NAO response to UNOPS Headquarters, key clients and partners, and governing bodies. Alert the Regional Directorate on pending and important issues to be raised during meetings within NAO, key clients/partners or other UNOPS offices. Ensure timely implementation of activities identified at corporate and office meetings by concerned NAO teams, staff and other UNOPS offices. Communications Write speeches, presentations, prepare external relations materials as required. Produce systematic and updated information on NAO activities via the NAO intranet, NAO BSC, NAO newsletter, relevant communications originating from the Directorate, teams, and elsewhere in UNOPS. Maintain positive working relations and manage feedback and information flows between and among NAO teams and other parts of UNOPS.

Education/Experience/Language Advanced University Degree (Masters or equivalent) in Social Sciences , Business Administration or International Relations , or a First University degree in related fields combined with relevant experience in a similar responsible position. Minimum 5 years experience and preferably at international field level and with the United Nations. Thorough knowledge of United Nations system.
Exceptional planning and organizational skills Fluency in English with excellent drafting ability in English required. Fluency or knowledge of a second UN language desirable.
