Objectives of the programme:
The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.
Description of duties:
As part of an ICC team providing ICT services to the United Nations (UN) Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), the successful candidate will:
− Support and maintain DNS, DHCP, and NTP, load balancing systems (Netscaler), system logging, and bastion host technologies
− Identify and analyze existing current network systems utilized by the Office of Information Communications Technology at United Nations Headquarters, New York
− Recommend standard configurations, develop automated tools, maintain and administer the network infrastructure and systems
− Recommend enhancements, including the identification, testing and integration of new technologies for the network systems
− Liaise between OICT and ICC Services staff regarding network activities
− Assist in developing detailed documentation of the network infrastructure
− Review and evaluate ongoing operational procedures and recommend enhanced network operations when required
− Develop procedures and guidelines for installing, integrating, relocating and removing network equipment
− Provide updates and status on workload
− Support other systems as required by the service
− Perform other, related, duties as required
Qualifications required:
Education and Skills
University degree in computer or information science, mathematics or related field. Good technical understanding of DNS, DHCP, and NTP management; load balancing systems (Netscaler); system logging; and bastion host technologies; Linux and UNIX (and/or HP/UX). Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches and firewalls is desirable. Some knowledge of Voice and Data technologies over satellite in addition to SAN technologies is desirable. An understanding of ITIL concepts and terminology is desirable. Strong understanding of database technologies is desirable. ITIL or other industry related certifications is desirable.
Experience
Five years or more of experience in the evaluation, implementation, administration and/or maintenance of enterprise level systems, in particular DNS, DHCP and NTP management, load balancing systems (Netscaler), and system logging technologies. Strong experience with the following systems, languages, tools or procedures: Linux (RedHat and SuSE), Solaris 8 or newer, and Microsoft SQL Server (2000 or newer), Citrix Netscaler, and DNS servers. Experience troubleshooting Cisco Routers and Switches, firewalls, Wide Area Networking and Satellite connectivity is desirable. Proven experience using VM technologies and Microsoft Windows server is desirable.

Annual Salary Estimation: USD 89,150
(net of tax at single rate, inclusive of Post Adjustment)
