Background
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN’s global anti-poverty network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 177 countries and territories, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges.
The Recruitment Unit is part of the Office of Human Resources which is located within the Bureau of Management of UNDP. The intern will be part of the Recruitment Unit and she/he will work under the guidance and supervision of the Recruitment Analyst, closely with other members of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities
The selected intern will get an opportunity to be exposed to different HR practices and initiatives. She/he will support the different areas of the Recruitment Unit’s work and promote a collaborative, client-oriented approach. The tasks will include:
Undertake research and show trends and patterns
Support the development of guidance documents pertaining to recruitment
Develop and maintain relevant IT platforms and the career section on UNDP website
Develop standardised templates for recruitment processes and practices
Compile and review data pertaining to recruitment
Identify best practices
Other tasks as assigned to support the work of the Recruitment Unit

Competencies
Excellent writing skills, as well as strong analytical aptitude and strong communication skills
Excellent organizational, time management and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexibly and meet tight deadlines
Attention to detail and proven ability to work independently and effectively with minimum supervision
Networking skills to engage with key internal and external partners
Theoretical and practical understanding of human resources management
Computer proficiency: MS Office
Demonstrated interest in the field of development
Respect for the principles of the United Nations

Required Skills and Experience
Interns are selected on a competitive basis. The following minimum qualifications are required:

Education:
Enrolment in a relevant graduate-level degree program such as human resources management, public or business administration, economics or social sciences. Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible.

Language requirements:
Fluency in English. Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

Conditions of Internship:
Interns are considered gratis personnel. They are not staff members.

Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP. The costs associated must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her own arrangements for travel, accommodation, visa, etc
