Job Vacancies Background
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) runs PeopleSoft applications in FIN/HCM/EPM/CRM/ Portal for a total of 23 modules. The PeopleSoft environment for UNDP is referred to as Atlas. Atlas is accessed throughout the world.

Working within the Production Support Services section, the individual contractor will be responsible for administration and management of PeopleSoft applications and Oracle database services for ATLAS (UNDP’s PeopleSoft ERP), and required to work with the Application Service Provider’s (ASP) DBAs in performance tuning, optimization and troubleshooting of Atlas applications and database related issues.

Job Vacancies Duties and Responsibilities
The key tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs design, installation, management and PeopleSoft admin functions (i.e. Security, Backup, Recovery and refresh databases, Space monitoring and tuning etc) of UNDP’s PeopleSoft applications on Oracle database environment to ensure reliability, availability and stability of the Atlas environments.
Evaluate and install PeopleSoft applications (Finance, HCM, Portal, CRM, ELM, eRecruitment and EPM) and Oracle database, People Tools, Atlas application upgrades and patches as necessary.
Provide daily DBA support for corporate applications based on SQL databases, and perform SQL database upgrade and patches as necessary.
24X7 Support to the UNDP’s Production ERP Applications including the Training environments.
Liaises with UNDP ASPs in ensuring the effective implementation of performance tuning, optimization and troubleshooting database/application related issues to meet business and user requirements
Implement current best practice industry trends and incorporating developments
Implement upgrades or enhancements to meet UNDP business’ needs.
In close collaboration with other OIST and UNDP units to define and ensure that RDBMS strategy and requirements are fully met.
Provide technical support on database related matters to OIST and Partner Agencies technical staff and liaise with other DBAs on data migration between systems
Maintain complete and detailed documentation for all PeopleSoft/Oracle database environment, change control procedures, sizing and performance tuning

Job Vacancies Competencies
Strong Unix system skills, DBA skills creating and maintaining databases, troubleshooting problems, script programming, and performance tuning;
Excellent analytical skills.
Proven proficiency in access and production control methodologies and practices, hardware and software.
Prior experience in shell scripting.
Prior working experience in install, configure and troubleshoot the Application Server, Process Scheduler, and Web Logic server in Unix and NT environments.
Prior working experience in the provision of

24X7 production support service Fluent in English; other UN languages an asset.
In-depth understanding of the perspectives and needs of the customers for owned software component(s) support
Experience in software requirements gathering and use case development
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
Strong command of standard desktop software (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Proven ability to effectively manage tasks and activities.
Prior working experience in the provision of

Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment.
Ability to handle projects independently and work well in a team environment.
Proficiency in methodologies for service and project management such as ITIL and PRINCE/2
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Job Vacancies Required Skills and Experience
Academic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering, with 10 years of direct relevant experience or Bachelor’s in Information Systems or Computer Science with 12 years direct relevant experience.

Years of experience (demonstrating an increasing level of complexity and responsibility):
5 years experience as DBA, with at least 3 years as an Oracle Database administration, design, implementation, maintenance and Tuning in Sun Solaris environment
3 years of PeopleSoft Administration experience in Finance, HCM, Portal, CRM and EPM on Oracle database in Sun Solaris environment.

Job Vacancies FINANCIAL PROPOSAL
The financial proposal will specify the daily fee, travel expenses and per diems quoted in separate line items, and payments are made to the Individual Consultant based on the number of days worked.

Job Vacancies Travel
All envisaged travel costs must be included in the financial proposal. This includes all travel to join duty station/repatriation travel. In general, UNDP should not accept travel costs exceeding those of an economy class ticket. Should the IC wish to travel on a higher class he/she should do so using their own resources.

In the case of unforeseeable travel, payment of travel costs including tickets, lodging and terminal expenses should be agreed upon, between the respective business unit and Individual Consultant, prior to travel and will be reimbursed.
