Background
UNDP’s Human Development Report Office requires the services of an experienced Writer-Editor for two months to assist in the production of support materials and press releases related to the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Human Development Report.
he consultant will report to the Senior Communications Advisor and will work in UNDP offices in New York City and/or from a home office.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Writer-Editor will:
* Draft, rewrite, and/or copy-edit press releases, fact sheets, speeches, op-ed articles, website texts and other public information materials related to the 2010 Human Development Report
* Assist in preparations for Report launch events and media briefings
* Provide other editorial and media support as required

Competencies
Essential knowledge and experience:
* Professional experience as a deadline news writer and/or editor for English-language media
* Familiarity with economics and development terminology and concepts and international affairs
* Ability to work with cooperatively in a multicultural and international environment

Required Skills and Experience
Education and work experience:
College degree with work experience in related field.
Language requirements:
Excellent command of English
Writing skills and verbal fluency in another UN language is an asset
