Background
The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) offers a unique combination of investment capital, capacity building and technical advisory services to promote microfinance and local development in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
The objective of this consultancy is to supplement the capacity of the UNCDF Support Services Unit by engaging a part-time administrative clerk to support the UNCDF HQ office.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of the UNCDF Procurement Associate, the Individual Contractor will be asked to handle incoming, outgoing and interoffice mail: sort incoming mail and place it in mailboxes for pick-up, process envelopes and packages from services such as DHL, Fedex, UPS. Weigh packages and dispatch and prepare volume mailings such as envelopes and publications.
The Individual Contractor will be expected to store office supplies, file correspondence and other documents, send and receive faxes, photocopy, scan, serve as messenger between UNCDF and other UN Agencies and Mission, do computer data entry and will be in charge of upkeep of office space, including conference room and photocopy room.

Time Frame and Work Load
Period: 1 May – 31 December 2011
Estimated work load: approximately 76 days (2 days per week)

Competencies
Technical competencies:
Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office

Behavioral competencies:
Demonstrates a high degree of initiative and independence in delivering required outputs within tight timeframes, exercising problem solving skills while at the same time demonstrating flexibility and the ability to get the job done effectively.

Demonstrates the ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
* Completion of secondary education.
* University Degree or equivalent would be desirable, but it is not a requirement.

Language Skill:
* Fluency in English and ability to draft well.
