UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a Deputy Director for its Division of Communication, New York.
Purpose: The incumbent will assist and deputize for the Director of the Division of Communication in his/her overall responsibility for, and management of, all divisional activities. The incumbent will supervise in developing communication strategies in support of the MTSP priorities and MDGs, working closely with the relevant section. The incumbent will lead the Public Advocacy for Knowledge Leadership pillar, ensuring effective, coordinated and strategic communication activities within and among these sections as appropriate. The incumbent will coordinate and monitor the Division’s strategic planning activities, ensure follow up on Division activities and commitments, and coordinate with other Divisions global communication activities and plans. In addition, the incumbent will oversee the work on budget, personnel and administrative operations.

Minimum Requirements:

- Advanced university degree in journalism, communication, international relations , social sciences .
Thirteen years relevant work experience in an international or developing country context, in journalism, communication, public relations , coupled with extensive management experience, particularly in the development and implementation of corporate communication policies, strategies and programmes.

Fluency in English and either French or Spanish required.
Post requires excellent management, organization and communication skills to manage a large staff in diverse occupations.
