Position: Nutrition Specialist (Nutrition & HIV Care & Support)

Purpose of the Position
Under the general guidance of the Chief of section and in close collaboration with other of the UNICEF NYHQ HIV team, you will provide technical support to UNCIEF country and regional offices and government counterparts on implementing the UNICEF strategy on nutrition and HIV care and support, including micronutrients, acute malnutrition and on the UN HIV and infant feeding framework for priority actions. You will provide guidance to the further development of UNICEF’s strategies on nutrition and HIV/AIDS, in close collaboration with key partners. You will provide support for the implementation of the other units work plan on issues of HIV and infant feeding, Micronutrients and acute malnutrition.

Key Expected Results
1.You will provide technical and programme support on planning for and implementation of the UNICEF strategies on Nutrition,HIV care and support, including malnutrition in the context of HIV, and HIV and infant feeding, to Regional and Country Offices. This will include participation in the formulation and development of programme goals, strategies, programme and technical guidance on Nutrition and HIV care and support, HIV and infant feeding and malnutrition in the context of HIV at the agency and interagency levels with relevant partners including the WHO technical advisory Group on nutrition and HIV.
2. You will provide intensive technical and programme support to the UNICEF regional and country offices on accelerating action on nutrition and HIV. Support the documenting of experiences and lessons learned and based on that support the further development of guidance on UNICEF’s role in nutrition and HIV.
3. You will coordinate with other partners working on nutrition, PMTCT and Pediatric HIV care, support and treatment issues including the Inter Agency Task Teams (IATT) on PMTCT and Pediatric HIV, and Children Affected by AIDS in developing global program strategies, training materials on HIV & IF and Nutrition & HIV Care and Support, and support the regional offices build their capacity to address Nutrition and HIV related issues. Support resource mobilization to facilitate achievement of programme goals.
4. You will participate in UNICEF NYHQ and Regional HIV care and support, OVCs and PMTCT team meetings and activities and provide technical and programme support to the implementation of the workplans of these teams.
5. You will support operational research in the area of Nutrition and HIV care and support, including malnutrition in the context of HIV and HIV and infant feeding where required. Review scientific articles and draft documents for programme guidance to ROs and COs in the area of Nutrition and HIV.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
* Advanced university degree in Nutrition or related technical field.
* Eight years progressively responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in programme planning, management, monitoring and evaluation in related field.
* Fluency in English and another UN language.
