Background / General description
The Middle East and North Africa Region (MNA) covers Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, the Gulf States, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank and Gaza, and Yemen. At the moment Malta is not an active borrower. There is a program of reimbursable technical assistance with some of the Gulf States. Active countries in the region range from middle-income countries, that look for advice and operational support on a wide spectrum of issues linked to labor market and social protection reform, to low-income countries (Yemen and Djibouti). MNSHD is the Human Development Sector Unit of MNA. It is organized into three sector teams focusing respectively on Education and Training; Health Nutrition and Population; and Social Protection, working in close collaboration. • Commitment to clients. This position will report to the MNSHD Office Manager and will be a part of the MNSHD Administrative Client Support (ACS) Team.

Duties and Accountabilities
•This position supports a Sector Manager and the Sector Team. Duties include:
•Manage and triage the Sector Manager’s correspondence (e-mail); assist in the daily coordination of the Sector Manager’s meetings, appointments and mission travel schedule, ensuring effective time management, which includes monitoring and follow-up on issues and priorities for the Sector Manager and his/her sector team. Additionally, ensure that relevant documents are available for meetings/trips and that deadlines are met;
•Prioritizing and channeling telephone calls; monitoring and following up on issues and priorities to ensure that appropriate consultations take place;
•Organizing sector meetings, video and audio conferences, and providing support in the preparations for the Annual/ Spring Meetings and visits to client countries by the Sector Manager;
•Providing administrative support for sector reports and studies; formatting and finalizing reports, making sure all regional and Bank requirements and clearances are met and obtained;

Selection Criteria
•High School diploma with minimum of 5 years of World Bank Group relevant experience or equivalent;
•Fluency in French desirable. Strong written communication skills in both English and French to draft a variety of communications and ensure quality of written outputs. •Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels (inside and outside the Bank), with demonstrated ability to respond and deal effectively with diverse situations;
•Thorough knowledge of Bank Group administrative and operational policies, Bank guidelines, and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant guidelines and overall quality of outputs;
•Excellent working knowledge of Lotus Notes, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Project Portal, IRIS, Intranet;
•Innovative and adaptable team player with demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimum supervision on a variety of concurrent tasks and to solve problems/issues within the scope of authority;
•Self starter with good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and/or balance competing demands under pressure;
•Ability to work in a team-based environment and operate as an effective team player; •Sound judgment, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with contacts at all levels, inside and outside the Bank, and in handling confidential and sensitive matters; •High degree of motivation, flexibility, and reliability, and willingness to learn and expand job scope;
