Save the Children US, the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the U.S. and around the world seeks a Advisor, Emergency Health. The Advisor will serve as a critical member of the Emergency Health and Nutrition (EHN) team in supporting EHN strategy and operational plans. To this end, the Emergency Health Advisor will serve as a first responder including leading and/or supporting emergency needs assessments and program development, support global and country level advocacy efforts and mobilize resources for emergency nutrition activities. The Advisor will work closely with Department of Health and Nutrition (DHN) and Division of Humanitarian Response (DHR) colleagues to facilitate emergency nutrition program learning and innovation as well as building agency wide capacity. The Advisor will coordinate and collaborate with the Alliance Cooperation in Emergencies Group (ACE) and the emergency Save the Children International structures as well as represent the agency in select global emergency health forums.

Requires MPH or MD plus at least 7 years field experience in humanitarian or relief work in developing countries, with extensive work in emergency situations (including quick onset emergency). Experience in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, familiarity with the MISP and in quality assurance in a clinical setting desirable plus skills in applied epidemiology. Working knowledge of the Sphere Manual and other international best practices in emergencies and understanding of broad range of humanitarian issues and principles; proven track record of designing projects, writing proposals and generating resources; strong interpersonal skills & enthusiastic and flexible team player; willingness and ability to work in an insecure and hardship environments and fluency in written and spoken English and working knowledge of one other language (French, Spanish or Arabic preferred).
