PSI seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic and creative candidates with an interest in private sector approaches to development for the position of Associate Program Manager, Asia/Eastern Europe. The Associate Program Manager is a key member of the Asia/Eastern Europe Regional Support Team whose mission is to deliver high-quality, demand-driven services to PSI’s field programs, helping to ensure operational integrity and programmatic success. This position is based in Washington DC and entails approximately 20% overseas travel.

RESPONSIBILITES:
The Associate Program Manager (APM) is responsible for supporting PSIs social marketing programs in Asia/Eastern Europe. Backstopping duties include:

Advising field platforms on technical, capacity building, development, and strategic issues; Serving as primary point of contact for overseas staff;  Monitoring contract compliance across a diverse set of donor agreements;  Providing financial management support: including preparation and tracking of project budgets, and annual budgets;  Overseeing procurement of health commodities for field offices;  Supporting annual project workplan development and monitoring along with field offices;  Researching selected topics (e.g. health, marketing, communications);  Maintaining and distributing reference materials; Conducting assessment and other short term technical assistance trips; • Proposal writing and project design; Reviewing of marketing plans; and Fulfilling other programmatic and administrative functions as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in a relevant subject (MBA, MIA, etc.) or equivalent experience • At least two years of prior work experience in a developing country required; • Proficiency in word processing, excel spreadsheet software and basic data analysis required; and • Fluency in an Asian language or Russian would be considered a plus.

The successful candidate will have excellent writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and cross-cultural skills; demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlines; and an interest in future overseas posting with PSI.

Preference will be given to candidates with private sector experience in marketing, communications, or advertising; familiarity with international health issues (particularly HIV/AIDS, family planning, maternal and child health); knowledge of USAID and the international donor community; and an interest in private sector approaches to development.
