OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The Ethics Office promotes a Culture of ethics and integrity in PAHO. This includes providing guidance, advice and training to help staff make the right ethical decisions and assuring compliance with all applicable rules and policies on the values, principles and standards of conduct of the Organization.

Description of duties:

Under the supervision of the Ethics Program Manager, the Ethics Consultant is responsible for the following tasks:
– Participate in preliminary and full investigations into allegations of wrongdoing, including obtaining and reviewing background documentation, conducting interviews and taking statements and preparing communications and investigation reports;
– Undertake research projects to ascertain the best practices in other international organizations and private sector companies and assist with the development of new policies and guidelines in the ethics and compliance field;
– Provide training and awareness programs to personnel in order to promote and foster ethical behavior in the Organization;
– Assist in the development of a dedicated website for the Ethics Office, including a list of frequently asked questions; and
– Perform other tasks, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
University degree in law, business administration, auditing or a related field.

Experience:
Three years of practical work experience in ethics and compliance, and/or conducting workplace investigations and/or in the legal or auditing fields.
Previous experience providing advice on ethical issues and/or conducting workplace investigations with a U.N. or other international organization would be an asset

Languages:
Working knowledge of English and Spanish (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French would be an asset.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SHORT TERM INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANCY POSITION, AS SUCH DAILY SUBSISTENCE ALLOWANCE (DSA) MAY APPLY ACCORDING TO THE INTERNATIONAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION (ICSC) RATES.
