This position is located in the Umoja Business Intelligence and Reporting team, the mission of which is to support the Organization business decision-making activities delivering a comprehensive reporting solution based on SAP technology. SAP Tools will include: SAP Standard Reports, SAP Query, ABAP Reporting, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP Business Explorer (BEx), Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Xcelsius, and / or Web Intelligence. The incumbent reports to the Technical Team Lead.
Responsibilities
(1) Provide leadership and guidance to the Organization to oversee the design and implementation of the Umoja Business Intelligence and Reporting solution.
(2) Lead the development, specification and communication of the Data Management and Business Intelligence architecture plan as it relates to ERP.
(3) Implement superior analytics, decision-making and operational reporting tools using components such as Data Governance, Master Data Management, Analytics, Data Warehousing, Scorecards, Dashboards, Business Performance Monitoring and Data Mining utilizing the ERP Business Intelligence suite of tools.
(4) Provide recommendations on the latest trends in the Business Intelligence technology such as the consolidated use of structured and non structured data, the automated data discovery and the use of advanced technologies such as Web 2.0 technologies to present the information to the end-users.
(5) Assist with oversight and management of System Integrator (SI) and other technical team members (i.e. perform code and technical documentation reviews to ensure completeness and compliance with defined standards, monitor activities of on-site and off-shore resources to guarantee change control procedures are respected etc.);
(6) Work closely with the infrastructure lead to define the infrastructure components required to support the plan.
(7) Perform any other duties as required.

Demonstrates ability to gather and analyse business requirements for analytical, decision-support and operational reports in a modern ERP environment. Familiarity with the following tools: SAP Business Warehouse/Business Intelligence and/or Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, Web-interface design and Web 2.0 tools and technology, Project Management methodologies and tools (MS Project, Clarity etc.), Issue and Risk Management methodologies and tools (e.g. Jira), Relational database tools (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase).

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems,electrical engineering or related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience related to design, development and implementation of reporting solutions and Web-based applications; proven achievements must include successful implementations of operational, management and strategic reporting solutions in a modern ERP environment. Experience in designing and developing Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) scripts and designing and development data marts is required. Experience with at least one full lifecycle implementation of financials and projects reporting solutions for a global company/organization is required, as is development of reports for master data in the areas of finance, projects, procurement and human resources. Experience developing Web-based application and reporting portal solutions is also required. Experience in leading and motivating teams and working in an international, multicultural environment is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language, preferably French is desirable.

Special Notice
Appointment of the successful candidate on this position will be limited to the initial funding of the post. Further extension is subject to budgetary approval.
Appointments of staff members in the United Nations are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General. Staff Members are expected to move periodically to new functions in accordance with established rules and procedures, and may in this context be reassigned by the Secretary-General throughout the Organization based on the changing needs and mandates.
