Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Contributions Service, Accounts Division, Office of Programme Planning and Accounts. The incumbent will report to the Chief of the Service.

Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Contributions Officer will be responsible for the following duties: Organising receipt, acknowledgement, analysis and reporting on assessed contributions; management, monitoring and accounting for assessed and voluntary contributions; managing, maintaining and developing complex electronic database on assessed contributions; preparing regular and ad hoc reports and correspondence on the status of contributions; assisting the Service Chief/Secretary of the Committee on Contributions in preparing reports for and servicing the Committee on Contributions and the Fifth Committee and other United Nations intergovernmental bodies; and assisting in preparing Member States’ assessments.

Profesionalism:

Proven conceptual, analytical and evaluation skills and ability to conduct research and analysis, identifying issues, formulating options and drawing conclusions. Ability to summarize and present complex issues. Exposure to multi-donor funds environment. Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet and database applications. Takes responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.

Planning & Organizing:
Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work; foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time efficiently.

Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients ” and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to clients.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in in public or business administration, finance, economics or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
Progressively responsible experience in finance, administration, budget, business administration or related area. Experience in Contributions, Cashier’s Office, Accounts Receivable, and/or Donor relations (including grant management and financial reporting) or related field.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage.
