Management Sciences for Health is currently seeking a Project Director for an upcoming Global project to be based in Arlington, VA. The project aims to help USAID strengthen its leadership role in global health. This new five year global project will focus on enhancing the organizational capacity and performance of USAID health staff, help them manage systemic change, and create an environment where staff can excel. Training for USAID staff will be conducted in Washington DC and in regional USAID hubs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Trainings may include professional coaching, financial management, M&E, project management, technical writing, leadership development, strategic planning, teambuilding, coordination and cooperation with other donors and projects, socio-political environment scanning, strategic communication, facilitation skills, and curricula development.
The Project Director will provide technical leadership and managerial oversight for the project, and ensure timely implementation and reporting of activities. S/he will oversee the provision of technical assistance to USAID health staff in financial management, leadership development, strategic planning, and other priority management capacity building needs identified by the client. The Project Director will supervise all activities under the contract and have overall responsibility for the successful performance of the technical assistance team. S/he will provide strategic leadership and bear primary administrative responsibility for all administrative requirements to fulfill the performance objectives specified in this contract. S/he is the official representative of the contractor and maintains communication among all relevant stakeholders.
Minimum of a master’s level education/ training in business administration, organizational development, public administration, management or a related field.
Exceptional managerial and operational experience preferably in managing complex activities of similar magnitude and complexity involving coordination with international donors.
At least eight years of experience managing mid to large scale programs for USAID or other international donors.
Extensive experience managing a donor-funded project; preferably USAID projects.
Experience providing capacity building services to government institutions, civil society institutions, government agencies and NGOs, including experience with institutional strengthening of administrative and financial systems, management and leadership initiatives, and monitoring and reporting.
Strong skill set in management and leadership development improvements and crafting organizational development capacity building plans and technical assistance approaches and tools.
Extensive experience conducting and designing training programs and facilitating meetings; respected by all audiences from senior management to individual contributors.
Excellent communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively across technical disciplines.
Previous USAID experience strongly preferred. Must meet procurement integrity requirements.
