Land O’Lakes International Development seeks a Project Manager to provide operational management to international development projects worldwide. This position is an integral member of the project team, collaborating with Regional Directors and Chiefs of Party to assist with the successful completion of identified project deliverables, on time and in budget, to donors and beneficiaries. The Project Manager will interface with subcontractors and technical representatives, as well as act as the liaison between project field offices and US-based interdepartmental teams. Specific responsibilities include:
- Travel to project countries to lead project start up and close down activities;
- Work with project management to prepare annual work plans, devise means of achieving outputs;
- Serve as primary project management backstop during and after the life of the project;
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with USAID, USDA, project partners and funding organizations;
- Track annual budgets and forecasts, and working with project management to explain variance;
- Review project status reports with project management and regional directors to ensure strong monthly financial oversight;
- Monitor progress against project output and provide feedback and action steps to achieve project objectives;
- Coordinate or complete the submission of quarterly reports, logistical and monetization reports and match reports;
- Champion project successes through stories, website postings, past performance reports and corporate capabilities statements;
- Contribute to new business development process; and
- Manage Project Specialist.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Business or related studies plus a combination of relevant education and experience to total 6 years;
- Demonstrated leadership, ethics and sound judgment, both independently and as part of a team;
- Must be able to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, make recommendations effectively, and execute plans of action within a team dynamic;
- Decision and problem solving capabilities;
- Proven ability to manage projects;
- Ability to make multi-task in multi-culture environment; and
- Willingness and ability to travel to remote international locations if needed (20-30%)
- Advanced skills and experience with MS Office Products with the ability to learn additional software packages;
- Must have excellent organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping;
- Must have strong collaboration and facilitation skills to establish and maintain good working relationships;
- Must have solid communication skills; present facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and
- Prior experience and knowledge of USAID, USDA, US Government and/or other donor organizations rules, regulations and procedures.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Masters Degree in related field;
- Previous experience working in or supporting projects in conflict countries;
- Previous experience working on large USAID contracts;
- Foreign language proficiency; and
- Overseas experience.
