IntraHealth International is seeking a HRH Officer to provide junior technical support and program management for the CapacityPlus Project’s core and country programs. The HRH Officer supports senior technical staff to achieve programmatic and technical excellence in program design and implementation and high quality results and deliverables. Reporting to the CapacityPlus Deputy Director for Clinical Services and Service Delivery Strengthening, the HRH Officer will be responsible for supporting a dynamic and innovative portfolio of activities to improve education and continuing professional development of health workers in developing countries throughout Africa and Asia Pacific. Activities include scaling up health worker production, improving management of health professional schools, and cutting edge mHealth initiatives to improve training of rural health workers.
The HRH Officer travels domestically between U.S. project offices and internationally approximately 25% time to assist program management and technical activities. S/he reports to the CapacityPlus Deputy Director for Clinical Services and Service Delivery Strengthening and supervises no staff.
Job Vacancies EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
An advanced degree in international public health, health sciences, economics, international development or related discipline.
Knowledge of human resources for health and health systems strengthening issues via professional and/or academic experience, including HRH frameworks and workforce development and support issues in low resource settings.
Experience in finance, administration, and management, developing and tracking budgets, logistics and operations.
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple-stakeholder groups and facilitate participatory discussions.
Working knowledge of French or Spanish preferred.
Excellent word processing skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Office Suite required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; demonstrated ability in a second language highly desirable.
Strong writing and editing skills for internal and external result/country strategies, research/technical briefs, reports and other documents.
Experience with USAID-funded projects highly desirable.
Prior work/volunteer experience in developing countries preferred.
Excellent organizational skills – detail oriented and accurate.
Comfortable working in teams as well as acting independently in the implementation of specific tasks, multitasking and prioritizing, working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Ability to travel internationally approximately 25% time.
