Position: Communication Officer (Security)

The Communication Officer is responsible for developing and implementing the communications plan to support all aspects of the Fund’s security program, domestically and internationally, in both the normal course of business as well as in emergency situations. The Communications Officer is also responsible for ensuring Fund staff and other stakeholders are kept informed on both international and headquarters-based security policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Coordinate the development and implementation of the division’s strategic communications plan, so it supports the successful delivery of the Fund’s highly centralized security program.
* Develop and conduct educational and outreach campaigns in support of specific operational security related programs; to include reinforcing emergency response procedures and changes to security policies and operations.
* Execute relevant and timely security and safety related articles and Notices on the Fund’s intranet. Develop and maintain security outreach materials, such as emergency information pamphlets, quick reference cards, event publicity, operational fact sheets, and other media to improve staff and visitor safety and security.
* Manage the content and structure of the Security Service’s webpage, develop collaboration platforms, and targeted communication features on the existing site.
* Generate opportunities to receive stakeholder feedback on divisional operations and initiatives by coordinating qualitative (i.e. focus groups, card sorting exercises) and quantitative research methods.
* Draft all security related communications to management, departments, the crisis management team, Senior Security Managers and staff at large, including emergency response and updates in time of crisis.
* Act as liaison with the Fund’s First Responders (Emergency Operations Response Team) and the Fund’s Crisis Communications Team. Assist with communications by the Fund’s Crisis Management Team during a crisis.
* Assist the business continuity office with the development and implementation of crisis simulation exercises and tests of the business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
* Develop and maintain emergency response templates and scripts for use in rapid response crisis situations and in crisis simulation exercises.
* Maintain the organization’s various emergency communication and reference systems for immediate use (e.g. the Fund Notification System and Office Telephone Alerts)
* Represent the division on the TGS Departmental Communication Group.
* Develop and maintain internal relationships with key stakeholders and external network of contacts.

Required Experience
* Proven track record of developing and delivering communications to support security related business objectives in an international organization.
* Experience in copy writing, editing, and publication production, as well as both qualitative and quantitative communication research skills.
* Experience in the use of emergency response communications systems.
* Ability to produce and manage content of divisional web sites, including experience of developing SharePoint supported publishing and collaboration sites.
* Ability to work successfully in a high pressure environment during periods of emergency or crisis.
* A working knowledge in security, safety and business continuity operations would be an advantage.

Education
Advanced university degree in International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations ideally with a focused study in the areas of international and crisis communications, plus a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience, is required.
