More than one billion people lack access to safe drinking water and over two billion lack access to basic sanitation services. Millions of people die each year from diarrhea diseases, acute respiratory infections and vector-borne diseases. Communities struggling with or emerging from violent conflict, natural disaster, drought or epidemics are often doubly burdened with water and sanitation emergencies. For the past 25 years, with 64 projects reaching more than 26 million people, International Medical Corps has assisted households, communities and host governments in the provision of water, hygiene, and sanitation services as part of its comprehensive approach to health.

International Medical Corps is recruiting a Behavior Change Specialist for a USAID Supportive Environments for Health proposal in various countries. The activities of the project will support the further development, introduction, and delivery of high-impact interventions in the areas of water supply, sanitation and hygiene as well as indoor air quality. The project will support USAID in achieving public health impacts through improvements in key behaviors and environmental conditions.

The Behavior Change Specialist will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of behavior change programs in WASH areas drawing from a mix of approaches and strategies to achieve behavior change at scale. The Behavior Change Specialist must have the following required experience and qualifications:

- A masters degree in public health, health or social sciences, communication design or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years in-country experience successfully designing, managing, and evaluating the behavior change component of WASH and IAQ programs
- Demonstrated experience working in partnership with international donors and agencies; Professional experience interacting with U.S. Government agencies
- Demonstrated experience with behavior change in WASH and IAQ improvement programs
- Professional experience working in developing countries
