Position: Data Analyst (Part-time Staff Associate Position)

ICAP-Columbia University at the Mailman School of Public Health (MSPH) of Columbia University is supporting the implementation of HIV/AIDS care and treatment activities in sub-Saharan Africa. These programs are funded by various donors including CDC, USAID and private foundations. Qualified candidates are sought to plan, implement, and support HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs; provide training, technical assistance and evaluation/monitoring services to sites; assist in the development of expanded activities; and provide other support to programs.
ICAP is currently accepting applications for positions at the Staff Associate level.
Working under the general direction of the Senior Research Director, the Data Analyst develops analysis plans from data collected by country research teams, conducts statistical analyses for investigators conducting country specific or multi-country analysis, and assists with the presentation of findings in publications and presentations.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Review, analyze and clean Optimal Models (OM) data from country teams and create analytic datasets for OM investigators conducting country specific or multi-country analyses. Assist with the development of SAS code to assist other ICAP staff with OM analysis. Collaborate with investigators to develop and execute detailed analysis plans that include existing and newly formulated variables and descriptions statistical procedures and modeling techniques for use in OM research projects. Write all required SAS codes for conducting analysis; code, analyze and produce all tables, figures and other output for review with investigators; create all final formatted tables for reports, papers and publications. Assist with development of reports, presentations and manuscripts. Other duties as directed
THIS IS A ONE YEAR ASSIGNMENT.
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree or higher.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in statistical analysis. Demonstrated experience working with large, health related datasets. Demonstrated expert knowledge of statistical software including SAS and STATA. Demonstrated knowledge and experience writing SAS codes. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience working independently and in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possess experience in HIV/AIDS care, treatment, prevention, or program implementation and experience working in developing countries . Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology or related discipline is strongly preferred, as well as foreign language skills (i.e. Portuguese, French).
