Funding Specialist / Senior Funding Associate
Grade 5/6*
The Inter-American Development Bank, the largest and leading source of financing for regional development for Latin America and the Caribbean, is looking for dedicated, energetic and team- oriented Treasury professionals for two positions in the Funding Group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbents will be part of a high-performing team in the Finance Department and the main responsibilities will include:
Analyze, price, negotiate and execute bond transactions denominated in various international currencies.
Analyze, price, negotiate and execute derivative transactions, including interest rate/cross currency swaps and options. Participate in the technical and operational implementation of the Bank’s Treasury Management System and the Funding Reporting Database and other internal business systems as directed.
Provide advanced technical support to various internal interdisciplinary areas, including groups in Treasury, Legal, Risk Management, Accounting, and Sovereign/Non-sovereign Lending units in the conceptualization of innovative technical solutions/institutional policies and the preparation of technical documents including presentations, spreadsheets, tables and graphics for internal and external use.
Develop and maintain relationships with banks and counterparties.
Conduct and/or coordinate research and analysis by developing ideas/concepts in support of Unit/Operational projects/programs/studies.
Participate in the Investor Relations Program.
At a more senior level, the incumbent will also be expected to perform the following functions:
Participate in the design of strategies to source financing and provide hedging in illiquid financial markets, primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Advise internal and external clients on asset/liability management strategies and valuation methodologies for illiquid and structured financial instruments
Provide mentorship and technical work guidance to more junior staff.
Education: Master’s or equivalent degree required, preferably in Finance, Business Administration, or Economics.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required; at least 8 years of relevant experience preferred for the more senior position. Strong working knowledge of derivative products and international fixed income markets. Familiarity with treasury management systems (Summit and Numerix), Bloomberg, and Reuters. Expert understanding of the entire MS Office package. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Languages: Fluency in English is required. Fluency in an additional Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is highly desirable. Knowledge of Japanese useful.
