Org. Setting and Reporting
This post is located in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Policy, Evaluation and Training Division, Integrated Training Service (ITS), Field Training Support Team. The Training Officer reports to the Field Training Support Team Leader.
Job Vacancies Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Training Officer will be responsible for the following duties: Manage peacekeeping training information and training related projects; provide guidance on technical web issues; maintain the peacekeeping training database and content on official websites; participate in the DPKO Internet and Intranet Working Groups projects and activities; observe, survey and evaluate training effectiveness, as directed by the Chief of ITS; collect training effectiveness data; evaluate training methodologies used in training; respond to Member States requests for peacekeeping training publications, data and information; support and assist in the production of peacekeeping training materials and presentations of instructors; monitor the changes and direction of peacekeeping training and education worldwide. The training officer is also required to coordinate and conduct DPKO training activities; participate in the development and implementation of training policies; participate in the development standards and materials; support training cells in field mission; gather and analyze training-related information and draft reports and other documents; prepare and manage training budgets. The training officer may be required to travel to countries of the Member States or to peacekeeping field missions to assist in conducting peacekeeping training activities or to meet internal DPKO goals and commitments.

Planning and Organizing:
Understanding of strategic planning processes and ability to plan, coordinate and deliver complex training activities. Ability to establish priorities, think laterally and creatively, plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan. Ability to manage projects against approved milestones and deadlines and to monitor and report on performance of staff under supervision.

Job Vacancies Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in human resources, management, business or public administration, education, training or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advance university degree.
Job Vacancies Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, training or related area. Experience in a Peacekeeping mission is desirable. Experience as a Training Officer is desirable. Experience in management of e-learning training programme is desirable.
Job Vacancies Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
