Job Vacacancies Org. Setting and Reporting
This post is located in the Specialist Support Service (SSS), of the Logistics Support Division (LSD), of the Department of Field Support (DFS). Job Vacancies Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Chief, Specialist Support Service (SSS) in the Logistics Support Division (LSD), Department of Field Support, the incumbent assists the Chief, SSS in the effective management of the office and is responsible for the following functions:

Job Vacancies ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Coordinates information flow and timely submission of talking points, briefing notes and comments requested by the Office of the Director, LSD for onward transmission to the Office of the ASG and USG, DFS.
Reviews, corrects and clears administrative documents prepared within the Service for the Chief’s signature. Prepare inputs for LSD work plan.
Coordinates preparation of comments and/or responses on behalf of the Chief on policy statements, conference reports etc. promulgated by other offices within the UN system.
Reviews and edits /redrafts reports of the Secretary-General and other reports/papers prepared within the Service.

Job Vacancies HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
Initiates and coordinates actions covering the entire span of human resource activities, e.g., recruitment, placement, promotion, performance appraisal, vacancies, job classification reviews, separation of staff members, training, etc., ensuring consistency in the application of UN rules and procedures.
Coordinates SSS staff training and ensure inclusion of training costs in the support account budget;
Provides expert advice with respect to conditions of service, duties and responsibilities, and privileges and entitlements under the Staff Rules and Regulations.
Reviews post incumbency reports for purposes of vacancy management and staffing table control.
Represents the Service at meetings with Executive Office or OHRM, as and when necessary.
Effectively liaises with counterparts in the Office of the Director, LSD, Executive Office, Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM), Field Personnel Division (FPD) and field missions, as and when required.

Job Vacancies BUDGET AND FINANCE
Provides advice to the Chief of Service on all budgetary policy issues, coordinates and consolidates Regular and Support Account Budget submissions from Section Chiefs and redrafts budget submissions where necessary for onward transmission to the Office of the Director, LSD.
Coordinates and Consolidates responses by SSS Sections to audit reports, observations and recommendations from the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) and the UN Board of Auditors (BOA) as well as questions raised by ACABQ and the Fifth Committee relating to SSS as and when required.
Coordinates and Consolidates comments by SSS Sections on mission budgets.
Performs other related work as required.

Job Vacancies Education
Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) preferably in management, business or public administration, finance, human resource management, or related area. First level university degree with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Job Vacancies Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible relevant experience in planning, administration and human resources management, including experience in an international multicultural environment, is required. Experience in handling confidential information is also required. At least two years experience in peacekeeping or other field operations is desirable. Experience in the application of UN budgetary policies and practices, Staff Rules and Financial Regulations and Rules is desirable. Experience in staff selection systems, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets is an advantage.

Job Vacancies Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official United Nations language is an advantage.
