The Lead Database Administrator is responsible for providing work direction and senior level expertise for the planning, design, development and management of database management systems to ensure completeness, integrity, security and efficiency of the system(s).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responsible for the development and oversight of  policies, standards and procedures relating to database structures, performance, security and auditing; ensure the security, integrity and availability of databases and required software.
* Responsible for implementing data models and database designs for complex, enterprise-wide projects, data access and table maintenance codes; performs data modeling and prototyping.
* Responsible for the successful resolution of database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues; monitors database performance and implements efficiency improvements for large, complex and enterprise-wide initiatives.
* Responsible for the design and development of database backup and recovery strategies.
* Responsible as lead resource for the evaluation of users’ requests for complex, enterprise-wide new data elements and systems, incorporates them into the existing shared data environment, and provides technical assistance.
* Determines and implements database search strategies and storage requirements for complex, enterprise-wide projects.
* Leads in the creation of test database environment, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures.
* Provide work direction and technical expertise for Database Administrators’ staff.  Responsible for mentoring, performance coaching and project management for Database Administration team.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
* Proven technical expertise/experience with relational database management systems (Oracle, SQL)
* 8 – 10 years technology related experience required; prior experience in a supervisory or first level management preferred
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
* Demonstrated ability and expertise in Oracle database administration, tuning, backup, performance monitoring, index management and file management.
* Demonstrated ability and expertise in SQL Server 2005/2008 database administration, tuning, backup, performance monitoring, index management and file management. Expertise in PL/SQL language:  with creating, editing and deploying objects in Oracle. Expertise with fuctions, procedures, packages, triggers, external procedure calls and external tables.
* Knowledge of Oracle forms architecture including ability to troubleshoot performance and functionality problems.
* Expertise in the Transact SQL language; with creating, editing and deploying reports in SQL Server Reporting Services; in creating, editing and deploying SQL Server Integration Services packages
* Knowledge of Cognos, Kronos, SageFAS
* Highly developed critical thinking skills; ability to make sound recommendations based on standard technical practices.
* Self motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
* Prior experience in project management.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline; MCDBA or Oracle DBA certification desired
